Conversion

The government allows offices to be converted to homes without the need for planning permission (central London and Manchester city centre are currently exempt). There is a vast and growing housing shortfall every year and the industry does not have the capacity to bridge the gap with new-build housing in the short or medium term. As a result, converting vacant or underutilised office buildings into residential homes in order to take advantage of their locations can be a good investment.
